Overview

Kansas law requires children 7 to 17 to attend a public school or ‘a private, denominational or parochial school taught by a competent instructor’ for a period substantially equivalent to public school (K.S.A. 72-3120). A homeschool registers as a non-accredited private school with the state board of education (K.S.A. 72-4345–72-4346). KSDE does not send follow-up after registration; keep a copy of the confirmation.
