The fine print
Editorial policy: how we research
What our labels mean, where our facts come from, and what happens when we get something wrong.
“Used” vs “researched”
Used by our family means our kids worked through the program or curriculum for at least a full term. Researched, not yet used means we studied it closely (the publisher’s materials, samples, scope and sequence, published prices) but haven’t used it ourselves. Every program card, comparison table and review shows one or the other.
How state law pages are checked
Each state page is checked against the state’s statute and its education department’s own guidance, both linked on the page. The “last checked” date is the day we last compared the page against those sources. Secondary sources, when listed, are labelled as not official.
We’re parents, not lawyers. State pages are a plain-language starting point, not legal advice; confirm with your state, especially before withdrawing a child from school.
Prices
Prices are the publisher’s published price on the date shown next to them. They change; confirm before you buy.
Money and independence
Some links earn us a commission (see our disclosure and partners). Partnerships never affect our labels, our comparisons, or whether we include a free option.
What you’ll never see here
Fake reviews, star ratings, testimonials, “as seen on” badges or visitor counts.
Corrections
If you spot something wrong or out of date, especially on a law page, please tell us. We recheck the sources, fix the page, and update its date.
