The fine print

Affiliate disclosure

This site is paid for by affiliate links. Here’s exactly how that works.

How we earn

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, or sign up, the company may pay us a commission. It costs you nothing extra.

Every page with affiliate links says so near the top, before the first link. Affiliate links are marked in the page code as sponsored, and program cards say “Affiliate link” or “Not an affiliate link” under the button.

Who we work with

Every company we have an affiliate relationship with is listed on our partners page, with what they offer, how we earn from them, when we joined and whether our family has used them. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

What a partnership never changes

  • Whether we recommend something, or where it appears in a comparison.
  • Whether a program is labelled “used” or “researched”.
  • Whether we include free or non-partner options. We include them whenever they’re a good fit, and say plainly when we earn nothing from them.

No company pays to be reviewed, and none sees a review before it’s published. See our editorial policy for how we research.
